The other day I was wasting time on internet fora, as is my wont, when for some reason - someone addressed a comment directly to me, or what have you - my attention was drawn to my handle, ‘Eilonwy’. I was sure in college when I played on a MUD under that name that should someone call, “Eilonwy!” in a crowded room, I would certainly turn and respond - now, I think, it is even more certain. It is a very curious thing that I should become so used to a name I’ve only adopted in the last few years - but perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised, as I’ve taken quite quickly to my married name, as well…

Have you now?
You always say it sounds weird when I call you Mrs. Whelan. Or, to be more precise, when Dr. Maturin calls you Mrs. Whelan.
Re: Have you now?
Well, yeah, but that’s cuz I’m used to being “Felicity Whelan”. If I were, for instance, a 1st grade teacher, gettin’ called Mrs. Whelan everyday, I might be used to it :p
Re: Have you now?
Can’t blame you. I’m always startled when someone calls me “Mr. Jensen,” and mind you, I was born that way. Maybe it’s too close to what agent Smith would say if he came to pay me a visit, or something. I’m pretty sure I’d answer fairly naturally if someone were to address me as “GreyStork,” though. Perhaps I’d even be slightly flattered that someone would actually know my online alter ego.
Re: Have you now?
Ok, Mr. Jensen….then how does it strike you that my sister (whom you have never met) refers to you as “the daring small Dane”? Is that carrying this Dear Child of many names business too far?
Re: Have you now?
Daring, even? On the contrary, I ought to be flattered. I think? :o)
