Urrghs and ahs

Monday February 28, 2005 @ 09:26 AM (UTC)

Having just happened to experience several very annoying but trivial occurrences this morning, I found myself making a list:

  • People dialing my number randomly on their non-keyguarded mobile so I have to sit through 10 minutes of someone’s rambling profane conversation with his girlfriend on my voicemail
  • Me putting my keys in odd places (beside my bed? WHY?) especially the day after passing up a good, cheap row of keyhooks at the store
  • Me forgetting to take my medicine. I know there are three or four medicines involved here, but you can do it, brain!
  • People who mark every e-mail high urgency. “Thanks for doing this!” URGENT!

This strikes me as a very petulant list to make, so I have obliged myself to counterbalance it:

  • Nudges (what they call caramel macchiatos at the coffee shop here), especially when the chatty guy makes pictures of robots and so forth with the caramel on top (Nudge purchase imminent!)
  • Remembering to make my lunch AND remembering to bring it to work
  • Nice weather that lasts all weekend when it wasn’t supposed to do so
  • Paychecks that auto-deposit Thursday morning when they aren’t obliged to do so until Friday afternoon

What is irking or tickling my two readers?

Two readers?

Hum. Well tickling, but for the record, I think more positives should be found than negatives.

I’ve picked up a case of self-deprecation somewhere.

And just to please you, I add to the positive list: The way well-behaved Jack Russell terriers look up at their master when they’ve obeyed a command. I saw this today, and it’s the most amusing look of melting dutifulness.

Irks: repeated bad data that must be repeated yet again, hood hogs, increased coffee costs, ATM fees, customer service databases that insist I am not a customer when I am looking at my info on the very same database online (apparently June is now the first month of the year).

Tickles: feeling freedom around the bend, “beauty” rest (aka the early morning nap), friendly baristas who sympithize with unanticipated cost increase, rain, and interesting course material.

OOoOooh good ones.

Especially the rain, tho’ I prefer A) wind and B) spits of rain in wind, both of which I strode through today, grinning like a mad thing with the wings of my long coat flapping about me.

Another tickle from today: sun dogs that last most of the morning commute!

Sun…dogs…I know I’ve heard this before and thought it were poetical…help me out?

What I am referring to is actually called  iridescent clouds, though I think “sundog may more commonly refer to glories. The rest of this site has other quite intersting optical information.

irks: all the papers and crap on my desk at work. and not wanting to do a think about them.

and my husband is in alabama.

tickle: i am having a photo-album-making workshop at my house on saturday with three friends.

it is not raining in alabama, so my husband can golf. (which was the point of the trip, natch.)

one more tickle!: i cleaned my bedroom yesterday, so it is clutter-free. it was a lovely view to open my eyes to this morning.

p.s. the key hook is your friend. buy the key hook!

I know I may be asking a stupid question, but why Alabama? Aren’t there golf courses everywhere? If he wanted it to be sunny, aren’t there golf courses in Schmalifornia? Is there a supercalifragolf course in Alabam?
