No walking to class. Not much walking at all today, refer to news item soon to be posted. At any rate, it’s just frustrating, because I had lost 27 pounds since senior year, and now I probably have gained back more than 15. Meh. I want to have a steady weight so I can buy/make clothes and know they’ll fit.
felicityhttp://faerye.net/post/victory#comment-365Re: Shortening Residue2003-08-04T08:43:54+00:002003-08-04T08:43:54+00:00
Well, the thing is, neither of us is walking 5-15 minutes to class every day.

It’s really easy to be sedentary. You drive to work, sit in a chair all day, and drive home. When you get home, you make dinner and eat it. By that time, you’re tired from a long day. The rest of the evening is spent on some sedentary leasure activity (gaming, watching a movie, etc).

Now, this is not to say that staying fit would be hard. Half an hour of exercise every day would probably do it. The difficulty is working up the will to do so in the face of a busy and emotionally taxing schedule. It will always be easier to not exercise. It will only happen if it becomes habit. Forming habits where the behavior to be habituated is more work than not doing it requires willpower.

So, in the end, we need to work up the will to do it. There may be more incentive in the Northwest because there’s so much natural beauty to be enjoyed when walking and such, but that doesn’t make it easy.
Mithrandirhttp://faerye.net/post/victory#comment-361Re: Shortening Residue2003-08-03T16:19:43+00:002003-08-03T16:19:43+00:00
Oh, honey, you looked gorgeous at Eric’s wedding. If you are gaining weight, it doesn’t show worth anything. And I hardly believe that your lifestyle could have become more sedentary in a transition from Cleveland to the Pacific Northwest. I mean, come on.
Rock Starhttp://faerye.net/post/victory#comment-358Re: Deliciosity2003-08-03T14:45:39+00:002003-08-03T14:45:39+00:00
Thank you for the compliments, and for eating my pies so I don’t have to!
felicityhttp://faerye.net/post/victory#comment-357Re: Shortening Residue2003-08-03T14:45:10+00:002003-08-03T14:45:10+00:00
I don’t have that much more weight to gain—remember those size 14 jeans I bought when you and I were shopping in Cleveland? A little while ago, I could button those up and slide them off, still buttoned, over my hips. Now, they fit again.
felicityhttp://faerye.net/post/victory#comment-356Deliciosity2003-08-03T12:01:32+00:002003-08-03T12:01:32+00:00
Felicity claims she’d never had lemon meringue pie before making this one, but that was probably one of the best lemon meringue pies I can remember having. The apple pie was also all kinds of delicious. Thank you Felicity!
wonkohttp://faerye.net/post/victory#comment-355Shortening Residue2003-08-03T10:42:49+00:002003-08-03T10:42:49+00:00
It’s better than some things you could have stuck under your fingernails, such as sulfur dioxide or the ichor of the Sons of the Bird, but not many—mostly because now if you bite your fingernails you’ll gain weight.
Rock Star
