I suppose if the alternative is no method, it’s no less valid!

I like lending books a lot, at present, because due to a confluence of circumstances I have a huge number sitting around that I have yet to read. I feel sorry for the books, poor things, and if someone else will show them some attention, I’m happy to let that person hold onto them for a while!
Felicity http://faerye.net http://faerye.net/post/superreaders#comment-2977 2012-01-03T02:14:10+00:00 2012-01-03T02:14:10+00:00
Huh. My library is currently over 7000 books, a lot reference but most, NOT. And yes, I’ve read most. I also loan some out (about 50% are OOP, or very rare. Those don’t leave.)
I’ll try new books, and am always looking for ~good new authors. I don’t care for most new works; they seem like fast food to me, not to be remembered after consuming ;)
I’d love to meet your mom and your friend. I do have friends who believe I do more with my books but collect them. (I was once chided because my books weren’t arranged by color… It was assumed I had them for DECORATIONS —shudder)
Meran http://faerye.net/post/superreaders#comment-2932 2011-07-24T12:02:12+00:00 2011-07-24T12:02:12+00:00
See, I knew you were one! I didn’t remember that you gave books to the collegebound too!

Yes, I rather thought I must have given it to Mom — why waste a great gift idea by just telling her?
Felicity http://faerye.net http://faerye.net/post/superreaders#comment-2930 2011-07-23T08:47:18+00:00 2011-07-23T08:47:18+00:00
I bought five copies of Hearts of Horses too! And I give books to my college students at the end of each year which allows me to go to Powells and purchase a half dozen each of The Living and Hearts and Housekeeping. I have standard books I loan out and then never see again so I have to buy a new one to loan. And I remember you telling me about your mom and Hearts—you did give it to her as a gift… or was that a grandmother?

friend-jan-with-a-bookshelf
Jan Priddy http://janpriddyoregon.blogspot.com http://faerye.net/post/superreaders#comment-2929 2011-07-22T17:13:25+00:00 2011-07-22T17:13:25+00:00
Sara — Yeah, I’ve heard of a lot of people spreading Firefly by the DVD method, for instance! It’s even cooler when it’s books, though. (I’m such a Giles.)

Mindie — She is pretty swell!
Felicity http://faerye.net http://faerye.net/post/superreaders#comment-2924 2011-07-21T19:15:23+00:00 2011-07-21T19:15:23+00:00
I love this post and I love your mom!
=)
Cheers to all the superreaders out there.
Mindie Kniss http://restartyourheart.com http://faerye.net/post/superreaders#comment-2923 2011-07-20T17:19:15+00:00 2011-07-20T17:19:15+00:00
David’s parents are both avid readers, & sharers of book. As is my own father. But David’s father Jon, is most DEFINITELY one of your Superreaders! : )

He has been know to buy several copies of a book (or DVD for that matter) to gift or lend to family & friends. And he often buys books on Amazon and ships them directly to your door, if he thinks they would be of particular interest to you. Surprise!! : D
Sara http://www.infinitecreature.net
