Poofy pants are always a good choice. Voluminouse soft fabric with no tugging and only minimal bunching. Or you could go Roman and just wear a short tunic. :)
Lady Zaria http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-644 Re: Actually... 2003-10-15T14:14:23+00:00 2003-10-15T14:14:23+00:00
Not that I recall.

I did see him in drag once (he was attending the lavander ball). He pulled it off quite nicely.

For the record, Brad is, as far as I know, straight.
Mithrandir http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-643 Re: Actually... 2003-10-15T13:39:57+00:00 2003-10-15T13:39:57+00:00
Brad? BRAD? Dear god. And did men who thought they were straight walk around shaking their heads and trembling in confusion?

For those of you not of the Casely persuasion, the Brad in question, sometimes called “Puck”, was a drama major at our school who one might describe as bishounen. Or a Sidhe, most likely of the Fiona persuasion. He’s perty.
felicity http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-641 Re: Actually... 2003-10-15T12:47:40+00:00 2003-10-15T12:47:40+00:00
Both Brad Triden and Robert the FOOL (whose last name has slipped my mind) wore skirts on occasion.
Mithrandir http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-639 Re: Actually... 2003-10-15T09:55:17+00:00 2003-10-15T09:55:17+00:00
Oh, and which? I don’t recall ever seeing such skirtage at the House.
felicity http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-638 Re: Actually... 2003-10-15T09:53:18+00:00 2003-10-15T09:53:18+00:00
It’s true, and I would wear mine a great deal if they were not currently hostages in the land of lost clothes. However, they’re still not as comfy as a good skirt, or as aforementioned velour pants.
felicity http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-637 Re: Bah! 2003-10-15T09:51:06+00:00 2003-10-15T09:51:06+00:00
Velour swooshy pants come close to the comfort level.
felicity http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-636 Actually... 2003-10-15T09:11:33+00:00 2003-10-15T09:11:33+00:00
At least two of my brothers wore long skirts regularly, mostly around the house.

I have heard from various proponents army-surplus camo pants that they are far more comfortable and less restrictive than jeans.
Mithrandir http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-635 Ahem 2003-10-15T00:40:30+00:00 2003-10-15T00:40:30+00:00
I would have to agree- the man-skirt should have been the next big thing. My own experiences with kilts have convinced me that pants were a major mistake… however, care must be taken whilst wearing a kilt during the winter. Many years ago, I went to AHS’s winter formal as part of a group in which all of the males were wearing kilts as opposed to the more traditional tuxedo or suit. Our dates, of course, were decked out in period garb. While it was an extremely enjoyable experience, the dance was held at a restaurant on the waterfront, on a particularly cold night in Jan., and there were some very frigid gusts of wind. I’m just glad that I decided not to… er… dress quite as “traditionally” as I could have been…

Sadly, my current job does not seem to be a very kilt-friendly environment, so I am stuck in pants for the forseeable future. I would encourage anybody who reads this to check out the Utilikilt... if even just a few of us started wearing these, think of the potential for a domino effect!

bedrick http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-634 Re: Bah! 2003-10-14T19:02:47+00:00 2003-10-14T19:02:47+00:00
You know, if your sitting at a desk then no one can see if anything is hanging out a higgedly-pidgedly becasue the desk gets in the way, and is otherwise the wrong angle.

This is the only reason i can get away with sitting cross legged whilst wearing my robe. The desk protects me ;-)
lissell http://faerye.net/post/poor-unfortunate-men#comment-633 Bah! 2003-10-14T16:38:21+00:00 2003-10-14T16:38:21+00:00
Bah, I say! I suppose my peasanty skirt equivalent would be stretchy running shorts, which do an excellent job of allowing one to experience most of the joys of being pantsless without the inconvenience of disgusted housemates.

Granted, assuming one is male, one does have to take care in certain situations not to sit in such a way that one’s maleish bits flop out into public view all higgledy-piggledy, but these situations are usually easily avoidable, or at least go unnoticed by the majority of people in the room.
wonko
