They call it white glove service. It may just be a marketing term, but if I pay over $4000 to ship something, I want the fedex guy to actually wear white gloves, damnit.
Mithrandirhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-369Re: A Modest Demand2003-08-04T08:53:40+00:002003-08-04T08:53:40+00:00
Matt says they send a man with white gloves. I like this idea, too. It makes my pies seem v. important.
felicityhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-368Re: A Modest Demand2003-08-04T08:52:10+00:002003-08-04T08:52:10+00:00
That exists? Wow.

And sorry, you, too, are outside pie range. I’ll start making a cookie list.
felicityhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-367Re: Madness Averted2003-08-04T08:50:07+00:002003-08-04T08:50:07+00:00
Heh. Well, at least you’re less violent than some people I’ve met who seem to think that if you’re drunk, you deserve whatever people do to you, and let that be a lesson.

Of course, the issue of permission and theft is irrelevant, because you’re already committing a chaotic act by bringing booze into the House to begin with, ja?
felicityhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-364Re: A Modest Demand2003-08-03T20:16:32+00:002003-08-03T20:16:32+00:00
shrug I mostly just like to demand things and see where it gets me.
Rock Starhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-363Re: A Modest Demand2003-08-03T18:38:09+00:002003-08-03T18:38:09+00:00
Felicity, what shame. Would any of your friends ever make demands of you just as a token?

And could you make it a chocolate-crusted lemon meringue?
Novelhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-362Re: Madness Averted2003-08-03T16:24:14+00:002003-08-03T16:24:14+00:00
Well, I sort of knew him.
Well, okay, Nick Eddy knew him.
And he said it was okay to take whatever I wanted.
But he was really drunk.
But I say that if you get that drunk in a public area, you deserve whatever anyone talks you into.
Rock Starhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-360Re: Madness Averted2003-08-03T14:47:19+00:002003-08-03T14:47:19+00:00
Some guy you knew? I was cooking dinner for some professor or other and we needed a bunch of cobblers for dessert, and all my glass pie pans disappeared and I had to go tearing through the house begging for more, searching the dorms, and so on. And then I had to go find triple sec for my apple cobbler, and vodka for my cherry-blueberry cobbler, and I ended up… ahem borrowing it from some guy’s window bar in hitchcock and bringing it back to the house in travel mugs…all in all, a very sordid occasion. But it all turned out okay, even if I did have to keep moving the pans around because the ovens still weren’t heating evenly.
Rock Starhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-351Re: !!!!!!!!!!!112003-08-02T19:32:05+00:002003-08-02T19:32:05+00:00
Wait! So you’re saying there does exist a thing that is as good as pie? Isn’t that blasphemy or summat?
felicityhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-350Re: !!!!!!!!!!!112003-08-02T12:23:58+00:002003-08-02T12:23:58+00:00
I think you’ll win my love just as easily with cobbler as you will with pie. (Although I like the idea of using a Custom Critical service to mail a pie.)
Rock Starhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-345Re: A Modest Demand2003-08-01T22:41:42+00:002003-08-01T22:41:42+00:00
My main intent was not actually to be able to eat the pie, but rather to have it traverse the mails—sort of a ritual thing.
Rock Starhttp://faerye.net/post/pie-madness#comment-344Re: A Modest Demand2003-08-01T22:37:23+00:002003-08-01T22:37:23+00:00
Umm. I really don’t think pie would survive the mails.

I suppose if you froze it solid first and sent it refrigerated, it would get there in one piece. But I don’t know how good frozen and thawed pie would be.

Of course, FedEx’s Custom Critical service could get the pie there, in on piece, in 13 hours, without freezing it, for a mere $4140.93.
Mithrandir
