So often I&#8217;ll see a &#8220;friend&#8221; of a friend, and feel some silly karmic obligation to say &#8220;oh, hi, my life is richer for having known you way back when,&#8221; (though with a little less cheese). Must those people be friended, or is it okay to send a hello without friending someone?</p> <p>Good idea on the tapering mechanism by the way.
