Had to stop myself blurting the news at all the grumpy people around me! Sorry if my wording was confusing.
Felicity http://faerye.net http://faerye.net/post/conditional-love-to-appear-in-escape-pod-podcast#comment-2701 Re: Buying Stories 2010-09-25T21:02:26+00:00 2010-09-25T21:02:26+00:00
For some reason when I read your words, “I found out today that Escape Pod bought my story” I thought you found out by some third party or something. That’s why I questioned it. I think reprints and anthologies are good markets—no question there.
Thea Swanson http://faerye.net/post/conditional-love-to-appear-in-escape-pod-podcast#comment-2700 Re: Buying Stories 2010-09-25T03:53:07+00:00 2010-09-25T03:53:07+00:00
Uh, that isn’t remotely what happened here. It’s a reprint market: I submitted my story to them in the usual way, except that it’s a reprint rather than a new story. It’s a fabulous market, you better believe I sent it there!

Some magazines do put anthology rights in the contract with a pre-negotiated fee, so that they can count on all their stories being available should they publish their own anthology, and things like that. But this is something quite different.
Felicity http://faerye.net http://faerye.net/post/conditional-love-to-appear-in-escape-pod-podcast#comment-2699 Buying Stories 2010-09-25T01:25:02+00:00 2010-09-25T01:25:02+00:00
Okay, so how does someone buy your story from someone else without asking you first? Please clarify.

And congratulations!
Thea Swanson
